Some valuable unpublished papers of reminiscence, written by friends of Mr Simeon's who long survived him, have been put at my disposal by the Rev. John Barton, Vicar of Trinity Church, Cambridge. And I have received frequent personal assistance from' Canon Carus himself, as I have consulted him. Besides direct information most kindly given, he has placed in my charge, as the property of the Hall with which I am connected, a collection of letters, papers, and other relics of Mr Simeon; a treasure of which I have sought to make full use in the course of my delightful task.

Really a wonderful read. I had to read this for class, but I am so blessed by what I learned from his life - compassion and relentless pursuit to proclaim Christ's name.
I am very thankful for this book. I am a pastor who was deeply hurt by a church about a year ago. Another pastor friend recommended I purchase and read this book. I am glad I listened because Simeon's testimony and godly life deeply impacted me and gave me the courage and desire to keep on in the ministry. If you are discouraged about Christian ministry or know someone that is, get this book. Simeon's life is a great challenge and encouragement!
Informative and enjoyable. A fantastic holiday read. Inspiring. Will definitely reread -- if I live that long! Will keep in the archinves.
Excellent source of information on the character of Charles Simeon and his contributions to the Christian faith. A must read for all persons interested in Christian history and the men and women whose faith in Christ and commitment to Him have impacted the Church today.

Moule's account of the life and ministry of Charles Simeon is the story of an extraordinary man convinced of the truth of the gospel. He started and finished well.
If I had my way, I would require every postulant for ordination to read and be tested on its contents.
This book would be great encouragement for anyone serving a difficult parish.
An old biography, but really outstanding. Much encouragement for pastors & church leaders who carry the mantel of leadership. Hearing Simeon speak down through the years through his biographer is like sitting at the feet of an aged mentor as he says, "My brother, we must not mind a little suffering for Jesus' sake." God grant me that kind of stubborn faithfulness for the cause of Christ!
